At some point I’m driving… and driving… and suddenly through a series of winding tunnels through some mountain ranges. That’s fine. It’s getting dark and I keep trying to figure out when a good time would be to turn on my headlights. At the end of one tunnel I slow down because I’m staring down a car in the wrong lane. Apparently there was a sharp turn immediately out of the tunnel… and they needed to get into my lane to make it around because that car had a trailer attached. I didn’t understand it because if they went wide (in their own lane) they would have been just fine since the sharp turn was to my right.

Immediately leaving this tunnel I’m suddenly parked at the side of the road. Everyone’s milling around, and all of a sudden we’re being yelled at by law enforcement to get down so everyone drops to the ground face-down. People start getting up, I join them, go turn my car off and grab the keys. We’re all being patted down for some reason, I’m worrying about the knife I hold inside my wallet but that gets overlooked.

Somehow I’m in America and am getting this shotgun approach to questioning. Part of which included someone yelling random numbers at me and when I got confused it was explained I was supposed to add these numbers up in my head and yell back an answer. I was made fun of because as a Canadian we don’t do this apparently.

STRANGEST dream I’ve had in a while.

I was at school, felt like a college or university but I didn’t immediately recognize it as Ryerson. Anyways, I was at school, in a class room but we weren’t being lectured. We were all just sort of hanging out. I had a few books (both text books and work-books) in my backpack (that I’m now using exclusively for the gym IRL) as well as some clothes.

Had to hit the bathroom. Went, someone snaked past me into the handicapped stall, but was obviously able to walk. I was confused, but fine, moved into the regular stall which was quite small when myself and my bag were thrust inside. Did my business, went to wash my hands.

Outside by the sinks that were suddenly very luxurious, washing my hands, someone’s talking behind me. This girl’s introducing herself, saying her name (that I can’t remember) and how she ran some event at the residence. (I don’t remember the event, or her, but she was talking about the residences that I lived at while at Ryerson for two years IRL.)

By the sinks there were these baskets of free samples. So we’re looking through them, and they happen to be those liquid water mixes to make flavoured water. Me, this girl I’m supposed to know, and now her friend (who ran in at some point) are looking through them and picking out stuff we thought we’d like and each taking two or three. All the time justifying it by saying “well no one else is in here!”

I just ended up going back to class.

These weekly reviews are getting more common as I’m finding less and less time to sit down and blog (but at the same time not really reducing the amount of time being sat in front of a computer.)

So Monday I went to work, everything’s fine in that regard. Me and my new “room-mate” (co-worker) are working well together, and my former co-worker who’s now on afternoons isn’t doing too badly himself. The week generally went quickly with only a few hicups along the way, like me finding out that while our largest folder can fit a 28 x 40 sheet of paper… it won’t let me put through an 11 x 34 sheet because it needs to go in the opposite direction.

Drumming was Monday as well, and we had the instructor bring in an actual drum-kit. That was fun, even though it’s still a bit weird sitting behind a kit while other people are watching. I do really love drumming but I fear it may take forever to actually learn anything.

Body flow was also Monday & I was happy for it as I really felt good about that class.

Tuesday after work I raced to the gym for the Body Combat class. It was fun, the regular Tuesday instructor is back which is exciting and we’re mixing up routines now so it’s not always the same one. While it’s nice to know what all the moves are, it’s also nice to challenge the body by changing it up once in a while. The sauna was great afterwards

Thursday was Unicycle club and I was actually able to make it down which was GREAT. A lot of people I haven’t seen in a long time, that I truly missed. Weird and ackward was finding out some personal drama going on within one of the families. And while I sort of picked up on something not being right, I really wasn’t expecting anything that I ended up hearing. But I do hope they’re all doing alright and in the end will figure out what’s going on.

Overall, I’m trying out micro-blogging via twitter. And I do really enjoy that Twitter is able to talk to my blog so the updates come here too. But I disliked how it was taking over the front page of my blogs so I tried the daily updates. I’ve seen the weekly update work, so I may give up the daily ones and just take a weekly tip on everything. It might work well this way. So check out my facebook status or my twitter webpage to see updates as they come, but for a weekly synopsis, check out my blog I suppose!

So I sort of left the house really late to get to the drumming class but I’m definitely enjoying it more. We’re sort of getting into actually drumming rather than talking so much, and everyone has stopped talking as much as they were previously, although some stuff that I think is common sense is still being questioned over and over every class, but at least during each class they are only asked once rather than three times.

I’m still having a really hard time with the different beats that I found was because the beats aren’t being broken down for me really well. This one that the instructor put up, I couldn’t figure out at all, until he said something that just made perfect sense and I could play it perfectly after he explained it. I’m going to need to find a drum instructor that can do that for me all the time, because if it’s not broken down I don’t think I’ll ever get it.

I also find it strange that we were told about paradiddles in the first class, but mr. instructor has never actually taught it to us. When he’s talking and I’m listening I’ll absent-mindedly start doing it on my knee or something, but it’s weird we weren’t taught what I’ve been told is an extremely basic drum warm up. *shrug*

Anyways, after class I was driving home, and nearly skipped out on the Body Flow class. For some reason I just really wasn’t feeling it, and a part of me wasn’t even sure if I was going to make it to the class on time since we finished a bit later than we normally would have. In the end, I ended up driving to the class and it was pretty nice. It was the new release, so everyone was pretty ackward and not knowing what to do.

A few poses I could do well and there were more (I felt) that reminded me of yoga which made me more comfortable. What sucked was the studio was FREEZING cold. I need to find a hoodie that doesn’t have a big zipper thing, because the one I wear now is a big lightening bolt that digs into my chest if I’m doing back strenghening.

Anyways, that was pretty much it for my evening!

I feel better (i.e. not sick) now so I’m hoping to go back to hitting the gym at least 3 times a week! Possibly more!!

Alright so the second week of drum classes are under way. I’m still not so sure about them but we seemed to go at a better pace this time around.

The other girl in the class still irritates and annoys me. Yes, you sit like that when you play the Piano. I did too. Why are you having such a hard time sitting at an electronic drum kit?! ARRGH! Every bloody time! I hope there isn’t going to be 8 weeks of this questioning why she feels so uncomfortable.

Anyways, I had a great and easy time with the 4 count standard rock beat. But when we start adding extra stuff in-between beats, I’m having a bit more trouble. I’m thinking because the instructor isn’t being smart enough to count at a pace that would make sense, but also is not consistant.

If we have “And”‘s between beats two, three, and four, personally I think we should have an “And” between beat one and two, even if there’s nothing to do there. Because it just sounds WEIRD to count “One, Two and, Three and, Four and. One Two Three Four” There’s no easy way to keep a proper understanding of the tempo. Although when I listen, it sounds like I may be the only one who’s getting confused by this method of counting. Maybe I’ll mention it next week.

I also found out I was the only one playing with #2 sticks, which are super heavy. I was wondering why I seemed to be inadvertently hitting my drums harder than everyone else! Instructor guy said he’s buy all of us drum sticks, I wonder if he was going to take orders, because I’d be hankering for some #5′s and #7′s myself! (The larger the number, the thinner the stick. #5 is about average, and came with the rockband videogame drum kits. #2 are thicker, and #7 are thinner, about sharpie marker thickness, even maybe a little thinner.)

But class was going better at least, I was having some more fun & we got into it a bit more. This might not be a total waste after all.
