Dallas Suscon 2011 – Thursday & Friday

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Really my journey began Wednesday morning at 08:00 getting picked up from my house by my coworker Janet.

Worked 9 something hours with frustrating customers.

Around 18:00 getting driven downtown to my cuddley-boo’s place by my other coworker Andrew.

Spent a few hours with cuddley-boo lounging, eating and napping before cuddley-boo drove me to Phil’s around midnight.

Spent an hour or so helping Phil pack up & saying bye to Allie while Jason also arrived, and finally Rob arrived and we departed Toronto for Hamilton around 01:30am

Arrived in Hamilton maybe around 02:30am, switched cars and drove to BUF airport

Border crossing was hilarious.

  • Border Patrol: Where are you going?
  • Jon: Dallas Texas.
  • Border Patrol:What for?
  • Jon:Just to hang out with friends. (oh how true that is)
  • Border Patrol:Where are you staying?
  • Jon:With them! (technically true? although we had hotel reservations I could have given)

We (Phil, Jon and I from iWasCured, Jason from iHung and Rob from BMEzine’s ModBlog) arrived in Dallas Texas Thursday morning around 11:00am.

Thursday afternoon we were at the space helping set up and build and prep stations and food.

Some time on Thursday Jon, Phil and I all ran away with Jay from Obscurities to meet his Mister, and their zoo of animals (5 dogs, 3 cats, some snakes and some rats that breed other rats for feeding the snakes) as well as going for some Mexican food before being dropped off at the hotel because we were all starting to zone out.

Friday during the day we registered ourselves, oriented ourselves and otherwise watched a few early pieces and learned some stuff.

Wrapped up pretty early so we could get cleaned up and head down to the Freaks and Fetish party.

Friday night it was a rush to get back to the hotel, showered, changed, fed and onto the bus. I wanted to make sure I was on the 9:00pm bus, but only had an hour to do so, so I showered as quick as I could and ran to McDonalds for a McChicken (which was on the dollar menu, score!) and their berry smoothie which was actually quite good, both of which were consumed on the bus.

What I need to pack for Dallas…

Was there any real doubt in your mind?

Scarification by Efix Roy (www.efixroy.com) while he was visiting Exotix Studios (www.exotixstudios.com) in Toronto Canada. I think I’m good for musical cuttings for now. Thanks also to Chris from www.partnersinrum.com to help take photos and hopefully put together an awesometastic video type thing.

Although it greatly amused me that Efix then said something about “Well at least it’s not Backstreet Boys or 98 Degrees that you’ll be doing next” And… yeah… I kind of used to have a fan-webpage that was dedicated to Take That, Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees… I called it Tb9Ts8b (TT, BSB, 98° all mixed up) (unfortunately the wayback machine can’t find it right now.) The URL was www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Pier/4928/ until it all got torn down. I’m hoping “Reocities” (www.reocities.com) will be able to resurrect it.

Oh, and if anyone’s wondering what that giganticzoid bruise looks like 8 days after I first discovered it, here it is!

P.S. I decluttered 1 more shirt, and 5 Compact Flash memory cards to my friend Sandorfalot!

If I told you I was a big Take That fan, would you believe me?

Take That Cutting, originally uploaded by lilfunky1.

Well what about now?

Cutting done by Efix Roy (http://efixroy.com) while he was visiting Exotix Studio in Toronto Canada. Photo taken about 4 hours after the procedure, after my first shower.

I’ve wanted a Take That logo somehow immortalized on me ever since I was 13, it was 1995, and I was watching the black and white music video Back for Good on YTV’s Hitlist with Tarzan Dan.

15 years after first discovering the band I finally took the plunge and have my own personal proof that I really really really love that band.

Because flying to London England (in July 2011) just to see them play in concert three nights in a row isn’t quite enough proof. (It is, I just really wanted the scar to go along with it!)

P.S. The cutting is not crooked. I’m just at an awkward angle because I’m trying to photograph my own leg. Seriously. It’s not easy.

Yay I have proof!

Obviously it simply took me forever to get the bundle of hair wrapped up, then into an envelope, then to find a twonie to attach for admin purposes then finally sealed and to the post office. About 3 months I would say. Since I got my hair cut just before I started dating my cuddley-boo and this just arrived in the mail yesterday:

But still, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside that it was received!
Hopefully it was of good enough quality to really be used to help a less fortunate child!
I’m contemplating doing it again but will have to let my hair grow out much longer (and make more certain of what length to get it cut at)
Because there’s no other reason why I can’t!
