What Angela did this weekend – Friday night
I feel like a show and tell type of moment. To re-live my youth perhaps? Whatever. I just realized I’m also exceedingly wordy so I’m breaking this into three distinct posts.
Friday Night:
The Expendables… on opening night.
Yeah, the BF wanted to leave around 8:30pm and get there for the 9:20 show, which, we surprisingly was able to make it for. Too bad the 9:20 show and the 10:00 show were both already sold out. We ended up getting tickets for the 10:45 show. Then had to find dinner.
Hooters. Go figure, a guy would suggest going to Hooters. Funnier still, I knew it was down the street and assumed we were going there. But it wasn’t until a block away when *HE* realized it was there and made the suggestion.
Sadly, it wasn’t that exciting, I think a lot of pubs/bars are asking their female staff to dress in skimpy outfits so this really was just another bar to me. What sucked was we ordered a pitcher of Keith’s White and it was flat, then when we got our sample platter, the BBQ sauce we asked for really just tasted like watered down ketchup with slightly different spice. But they insisted 3 times it was really BBQ sauce… so we just ignored it.
Back to the movie theatre, while drunk. Trying to find two seats together… we ended up in the very back row (better than the far front at least) and right in the stairway so it was awkward, but kind of nice to have loads of leg room.
The movie was pretty awesome. I mean, I had no expectations, and only barely read a synopsis on what the movie was actually about. Seen no advertising on TV about it, only knew it was going to exist based on the TTC advertising they had purchased (and it was a lot, especially at Yonge/Bloor station)
Very typical “guy” movie. Lots of big action stars, (And a cameo by Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger which was HILARIOUS) lots of guns, and a very high level of violence. And a little bit of a love story thrown in I’m sure just to placate the females that were likely dragged into the theatre by their boyfriends. (Although me, the guns and sharp’n'pointies kept my interest just fine)
Back to the Java House (where we also stopped off on our first night out) for more coffee with alcohol in it. Came up with the great idea to mix two drinks together so after our first round we did that for the second and shared it. It was… pretty awesome. We were mixing together the Midnight Madness (1/2 oz Kahlua, 1/2 oz vodka, espresso shot) with White Chocolate (1/2 oz Kahlua, 1/2 oz vodka, steamed milk). Yum.
And finally… home. BF had to work the next morning.
