Let’s go to the Ex! The Food Edition
Philly Cheesesteak – was awesome. Very nommerific. Also a plus that it was the first thing both me and Stefan ate that day. I’m glad I waited til we got there to eat.
Tiny Tom Donuts – Obviously, a staple any time I’ve ever gone to the CNE, and it’s a bit odd seeing them at different events now. We (Stefan) bought a dozen cinnamon. They have a deal where if you buy 3 dozen you get the 4th free, and I remember I used to buy that so I could have all 4 flavours. Crazy.
Foot long corn dog – Stefan’s purchase. I’m not a big fan of corn dogs but it was pretty epic. The skewer it came on was also massive. Difficult to dip in ketchup though, because the wiener wouldn’t move on said skewer. Still, pretty nom.
Mango smoothie – My purchase. I wouldn’t really call it a smoothie. Really it was just a slushie but mango flavoured. Although it really DID taste like mango which made it half decent. But logically it was just ice & flavoured sugar water. Meh.
Funnel cake – MY FIRST EVER! I made Stefan buy this for me because I’d never had one before, and it was fun to tell him to buy it for me. I also figured out WHY it’s called a funnel cake, it’s poured into the fryer using a funnel. I always thought you ended up with a funnel-shaped cake, like a waffle cone. I picked strawberry topping, Stefan also included ice cream for me 
Pad Thai – Stefan’s purchase. He was hungry and went in for pad thai with two different chicken “items” on it. I didn’t try it, wasn’t hungry at the time. He seemed to like it okay, finished it off pretty quickly.
Fresh Lemonade – Mine. I was thirsty while Stefan had his pad thai so I went back in for lemonade (was getting sick of sugar after the funnel cake) and bumped into a girl I knew from unicycle club who was working at the booth. The lemonade was good though. Even had half a lemon in it. Sweet & sour.
Cotton Candy – Stefan’s purchase. He even was able to get it on a paper cone (instead of in a plastic bag) which was epic. And he told me the story of now working with building materials (hence his name being contractor guy) he can’t eat the pink cotton candy because it both looks and feels like the fiberglass insulation. So we picked blue. And stuffed our faces into this big puffball bigger than his head. And it melted while we ate it (probably because of the humidity) and got EVERYWHERE.
Curly fries – My purchase. I was hungry again and wanted curly fries. I thought they’d be more interesting, they weren’t. Very thin shoestring like fries which weren’t BAD… but I bought the bucket-size (in a collectible bucket) but the way Stefan held it, the handle came apart and we dropped the whole thing. They thankfully gave us a new one, cuz Stefan was a bit grumpy at it. Finished it off though, seasoning powder was very helpful.
| Deep Fried Mac & Cheese – Stefan finally broke down and bought this for me. One of the two things I kept “Demanding” to eat. Deep fried butter was out of the question because the line up looked like it was a mile long. But this was almost the end of the night so we went for it. The balls were bigger than I expected, about the size of billiard balls? And needed ketchup to be dipped in, there wasn’t really any cheese or cheese taste to it. Funny, but I wouldn’t buy it again. This was one item I insisted on having photographic proof of having eaten. So I used my Motorola Razr to snap the pic, then needed to use my Nikon Coolpix S10 to take a picture of the screen on my Razr to show you lot! |  |
Mamma Mia’s Pizza - Stefan grabbed this, and while it was the most economical meal either of us purchased during the day, it was the worst. I tried a bit, Stefan took like 3 bites and we had to leave it. Neither of us wanted it, and it looked like these pizzas were being boxed in and they were rushed wherever they were made. Disgusting. NEVER AGAIN.
Booster Juice Strawberry/Banana Smoothies – My purchase, I bought Stefan’s too. They were nom. Real banana which was cool. They used the “strawberry smoothie” slushie stuff though for the strawberry which wasn’t exciting, but I guess the easiest way for them to make the various flavours. Eh. I’d rather the real thing.
Bags of candy – Stefan’s purchase. We took them all home. He opened up two bags when we got home Saturday night… and the last one Sunday afternoon. By the time I’m writing this (Sunday night) they’re probably all empty.
Candied Apple – Stefan’s purchase. He insisted on buying it. It was pretty much the end of the night when we got it so he got a wrapped one to take home. I don’t know when he’s going to eat it but I think he will have to eat it soon otherwise it probably won’t be so good.
I really REALLY wish I brought a camera to take photos of all of this. I would start a new blog or at least set on my flickr page called “What Stefan Eats” because so far my photos are all of him with food anyways. Heh. No little camera (didn’t bring it downtown with me) no big camera (100% chance of rain, didn’t want to fry it, also didn’t want to drag it along everywhere because it’s heavy)
