Feeling sleepy… oh so sleepy…

Friday, November 27th, 2009

This week has been an awesome adventure but a bit of a clusterfuck I think. My sleep bank has been drawing on the dust in the back of the reserves for the past two days, and yet I’m still upright, and nearly coherent.

Monday… was a normal day.
Tuesday I somehow stayed out until just before 1am, got home at 1am, was online til probably 2am. Then my alarm went off at 6am.
Wednesday I somehow stayed out until just AFTER 1am, got home around 1:30am, was online til probably 2:30am. Then my alarm went off at 6am.
Thursday I was at a show til midnight (BROOMFILLER at the International Pop Overthrow in Toronto). Dropped off Camera Guy at 12:15, he didn’t get out of my car til after 1am. got home around 1:30am, was online til about 2am. Alarm went off at 6am.

Noticing a pattern here?

Today being Friday, after working 9 hours, I’m going to go see The Drop Joys at International Pop Overthrow with Guitar hero boy, then back to my house for Futurama Marathon and possible conversation & debates in financial independance until we both can’t stay up any later (so for me… 10pm?… wait, the show is probably going to go until about midnight… d’oh!) Not sure if we’re doing breakfast Saturday.

Saturday I’m meeting up with some former GCM’er classmates for lunch at Frankie Tomatto’s…(sp?) then picking up Camera guy from work, then apparently going out for wings with the “Blockbuster crew” (his crew, not mine.) If that doesn’t happen, I may end up at the IPO for a third night to see The Apollo Effect

Sunday I sleep… and sleep… and sleep some more. So don’t freaking call me.

INFECTION!

BLARG!

As if the neck injury last Thursday wasn’t bad enough.  Suddenly Saturday morning, my right helix piercing started acting up, to where by the end of the day was doing it’s horribly red, swollen, and throbbing to heart-beat type of owwie.

Not fun.

Started popping pills (Advil mostly) to try & reduce swelling… and reduce the throbbyness Saturday night.

Tried to not sleep on said ear Saturday….

Sunday it was generally just red & swollen, not so much with the throbbing.  But should I happen to hit it (like me being pouty & putting my head on someone’s shoulder) OWWWW.  I’m sure the people standing around Dundas Square were both amused and confused by my antics.  What was kind of fun though, was the cold air made the piercing feel good.  The res of me was freezing cold, but my ear was a very comfortable temperature.  Not sure how good that is overall though…

Finally remembered that I have a gigantic tube of sea salt at home.  Ran home to fill a bowl with salt & hot water (yes, tap water, not distilled, whatever it’s the same thing to me.)  Laying around on my bed with my ear in a bowl of water on top of a towel… man I haven’t done that in a long time.

I don’t miss it.

Will continue for the next few days.  Hoping to pick up some PunkMedics Simple care Spray soon as well because I don’t have ear bowls at work or in the car. And while I realize that I can get away with one bottle, I’ll probably be lazy, and buy three.  One for at work, one for at home and one in the car.

This needs to go away.  My neck doesn’t allow me to hold the phone on my left ear.  And an angry piercing won’t let me hold the phone on my right ear.

Did I mention I’m on the phone a lot at work?

INJURY!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I’ve never done this before so it’s totally new territory for me.

My neck hurts.  A lot.

Last Wednesday I went to get a massage where I complained the left side of my neck was kind of stiff.  Worked on it, and it felt pretty decent.

Problem started Thursday morning when I did some combination of a stretch and a yawn to wake up.  Stiff neck came back… and moreso.  Owwie.  Was kind of sore all day at work, couldn’t hold the phone to my shoulder like I normally do (which was probably what caused the bulk of the neck soreness to begin with) and finally broke down & bought some of those microwavable bean-bag heat pads.  (Got two of them, a skinny round-ish one for around the neck, and a square-ish one for more flat areas.)

I never tried it before, and it was kind of exciting to microwave a bean bag (I’m easily amused it seems) and worked quite well.  I used both alternating, the skinny one around my neck or the square one kind of on the shoulder while laying down.

Neck/shoulder rubs can help but I’m just not comfortable doing that with people who didn’t actually train in it.  I often can’t believe people trust me with their necks, shoulders & backs considering I’ve really not got much of a clue of what I’m doing.

The sore-ness made me skip out on Thursday night’s unicycle club practice too.  I need to go back, I miss those guys.

Anyways, it’s almost been a week, it’s mostly back to normal.

So for now I’ll leave it I guess.

Going to schedule another massage for next week anyways.  Two maybe.

Getting to know Football Boy

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

So… here’s an odd one.  I can’t really remember the premsis that caused us to start talking, I think he used that (really annoying) chatting system on okC because we were both online.  immediately going into what sports I liked vs what he liked, and while I really enjoy watching hockey, and UFC, I’ll play almost anything that’s contact.  I think he liked that.

All became an interesting debate of whether I would be able to tackle him to the ground or not, him thinking I’m “just a girl” with a no, and me with 2 years of wrestling, 2 years of rugby, countless bedroom-theatrics, and quite a bit of heft for a girl, thinks so.

We did the coffee thing the first time we hung out, which was pretty cool.  I made him buy me a soy hot chocolate, so I would be able to recognize him… (It was really a ploy just to get a hot chocolate.)  He somehow ended up with a banana/chocolate drink that sounded way yummier.

But I think the first time really getting to know him was right before Halloween.

I was bored on a Sunday & he was talking about going for a walk to the costume store to see if he could find something.  It was a nice day out so I told him to wait for me & we’d head out together.  He failed to mention this store was two towns over.  Literally.  Well… maybe not, but definitely a different district.  It was a two hour walk.  One way.

It WAS an awesome day, and we went along the Lakeshore bike paths.  We were able to grill each other on varying topics from school, work and… dungeons & dragons… The D&D thing was only because his messenger bag said “Bag of Holding” which I thought was awesome but had no idea what it meant.

About 3/4 of the way there my left knee & hip started to really hurt.  Then we couldn’t cross a large thing of railway tracks and decided to walk back.  Walking back SUCKED.  He took it easy on me, we travelled at a much slower pace, on more than one occasion I was tempted to give up & just flag down a cab.

Arrived back in Toronto okay, and hung out, as I had no intention of moving any time soon, we watched football, which caused me to ask all sorts of questions like “What’s that?” and “What’s he doing?” and “Is that it?” Heh.  Fun though, he seemed really patient throughout my barrage of questions, even knowing I probably wasn’t paying much attention.

Felt somewhat pathetic that I had to get driven to my car (about two blocks away) because of the hurty-ness but he’s enough of a sweetheart to not mind.  Also other times of hanging out he’ll walk me back to my car. As long as I drive him back to his house. Heh.

I approve :)
