Here mom… let me get that for you

One of the stranger fragmented dreams…

For some reason me & my mother are in the grocery store, because she wanted to buy some of those nose strips that remove blackheads from one’s nose.  We got to that asile but there was only one box, that was open, and only one strip inside.  She gets me to come over to figure out if we could just have the one strip since there was only one particular pore on her nose that was blocked.

When I found this out, I decided to try & manually pop it out using my fingernails for her.  In the store. I remember getting that bugger out, and thought it was really gross at the time because the blockage in the pore was a lot bigger than I expected.

And there was some general running around the grocery store as well.  And some bag of snacking material my mom had, but kept in one of the open freezers, and when she returned it had disapeared.

Someone stole it??

Alright this was one crazy ass dream.

I can’t really think of HOW this all came about.

But I was at some like freshman frosh type of party, but with both my DSLR camera and with my laptop.  And while I don’t remember being either a freshman or an organizer, I was being forced to take part in all the festivities anyways.

IRL my friend Phil tells me to never leave my gear where I can’t see it.  Stuff gets stolen this way.

And at some point everyone had their bags in a pile by a bunch of picnic tables that we were supposed to eat at.

At some point I realized I should have my bag on me, but I couldn’t find it. And started looking everywhere for my gear.  Seemingly forgot about the bag, as I started going through all the other bags to see if my camera or my computer were in someone else’s bag instead.  Feeling lots of panic.

I woke up, and realized it was a dream.  But I kept trying to go back to sleep to resolve this issue.  I wanted to find my in-dream camera & bag, even after being fully aware that… it wasn’t real.  Weird, huh?

Holy crap.

My flickr page normally averages between 40 and 50 hits a day, mostly due to the photos Phil took years and YEARS ago that I uploaded and tagged “Naked Barbies”

Today I'm getting virtually slammed as I'm nearing 250 hits so far, and it seems to be the motocross photos doing it. Awesome. Seems people are more interested in dirt bike racing then they are with all my friends on stages.

Yay ego boost!

Toronto Transit Commission = Idiots? (4 months late)

Another rant to show that I’m behind the times.  Because, honestly I really have no REASON to rant about this sort of thing anymore.  Other than, I’ve felt really combative lately and want to rant about lots.

On April 1st, 2009 the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) put into effect the notion that metropass holders would no longer receive free parking at… 16 lots they normally would?  (Non-metropass holders paid to park during peak hours already)

And you have driving commuters outraged at the basic doubling in price of commuting, while you had non-driving commuters playing little violins & offering cheese with all the whine about the increase in fares.

But my argument will solely be based on numbers.

An average commuter:
A metropass costs $110.00 per month.
An average month has 22 working days, this equals $5.00 per day.
Parking at a TTC lot on average costs $6.00 per day

Driving to the nearest TTC lot takes about 30 minutes in rush hour.
Taking the TTC from that station to the downtown core takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 60 minutes during rush hour (depending on whatever and based on subway only)

Compare that to:
Parking downtown costs anywhere from $8.00 to $20.00 per day.
$8.00 was around Ryerson Campus.
$12.00 was around the Eaton centre (and could take you straight in)
$20.00 was in the financial district.  I’d rather walk (Take P.A.T.H. in the winter!) from a cheaper parking lot!

Driving to downtown during rush hour takes around 60 to 75 minutes, depending on your route, and how willing you are to piss off all the other drivers by weaving through traffic.

So really, there’s no advantage to taking the TTC for the average 905 commuter anymore.  It’s a good thing I’m not an average 905 commuter.  Nor am I a commuter.  I try to give the TTC as little money as possible.  And instead, bought a more fuel effecient car.

I’m sure it’ll balance itself out.

I seem to be in a picture type of mood!

Spent the afternoon up north of Barrie today. One of my new-found friends is into (and has lots of friends into) motocross racing, and invited me out after I expressed being extremely tired of only taking pictures in dark clubs/bars of my friends on stage being various bands.

I'm actually REALLY happy with a LOT of my shots. Since there's so many riders I could really quickly adjust camera settings to figure out what I needed to shoot at. But here's 3 I super duper <3!!
