Product Review: Punkmedics Vegan Facial Cleanser
I’m not even sure how to start this review. I was asked by my good friend Badur (for over 7 years(!); figured that one out while applying for my passport) to review his new line of Body & Hair care products.
So the first thing I did when I got home with my bag of goodies? Send an IM to Badur with the question “How does one use a facial cleanser??” I felt a bit silly, but at the same time, I didn’t want to review a product while using it incorrectly. (To anyone else who doesn’t know, it’s sort of gently rub cleanser onto a damp/wet face, then rinse off.)
Having nothing to previously compare to, here’s what I’ve found out.
First, since the Vegan Facial Cleanser from Punkmedics is vegan, unscented & natural, there’s no harsh chemical/medical/alcohol smell that I would expect from a product off a shelf. In my hands, it felt almost like water and had the slightest lathering effect when I put it on my face.
Second, it didn’t sting my eyes when I opened them while the cleanser was still on my face. I really didn’t expect that, since one of the reasons I never bothered with any products was for fear of it stinging my eyes (I can wear contacts no problem, but I still have a fear of stuff touching them!)
The result? The Vegan Facial Cleanser got rid of my oily skin. The first few days my skin felt a bit dry, but considering it normally feels a bit oily I’m sure that’s just me not being used to using a cleanser. After about 3 to 4 days I got used to not having oily skin and it felt fine. While I still broke out during my monthly visitor, I do believe the cleanser helped with what acne did show up, it disappeared faster and overall just wasn’t as severe. Always a plus.
I probably won’t continue using this every day since my skin is 80% of the time just fine. I’ll use it when I do the monthly song & dance to minimize the monthly acne though!
Background on my skin: No make up (no make up remover), no cleansers, no acne pads. I wash my face with water on a wash cloth. I was never inflicted with teenage acne, and now that I’m in my mid(!)-twenties my skin is generally clear & well. Exception being that “time of the month” I’ll break out, but it’s still pretty minimal. I know my face is a bit more oily than probably most due to my lack of using anything, but meh.
