Indie Love Radio

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Screw it.  I’m too sick to work out (Really I was too sick to work but I went in anyways) but instead, I was able to score the address to Indie Love Radio so I could hang out with Rob during his show, Hijack Radio.  Was way fun.  Richard & someone else from BROOMFILLER didn’t show up unfortunately (I wanted to show them the lenses I’ll be shooting his Friday Hamilton show with) but I got to meet two of the guys from S.O.P.E. (Stuck on Planet Earth) & listen in and throw in weirdoid comments every so often.  And take a load of pics.

Check it out.

Body Flow again… but you know what? I think I’m sick.

This quite sucks.  I noticed last night, and it wasn’t getting much better.

Seems I’ve caught whatever cold/flu virus that my mom’s had all last week (and she got to stay home from work all week too) where I won’t get to.  But whatever, there’s bigger problems in the office right now (my co-worker, Kim, her father is not well and we’re not sure of the outcome at this moment in time.)  But assuming this doesn’t get better, I think Body Flow is going to be the only class I’m taking.

It was good, this instructor seems to only want to do the current routine, as she was talking about the release classes and how she is going to be working based on the new one once it comes out.  So this will be a routine I can learn once and just move through while it goes on.  As opposed to the Body Combat classes that will change every week anyways.

Class was nice, I kept my hoodie on the entire class pretty much, and it wasn’t as ackward as I had thought it would be.  And having the sauna on full blast at the end of it to try & clear my sinuses was awesome.

I’ll see how I feel, but I’m seriously doubting I’ll get to any other classes.  Rest is also good for the body, right?

Let’s keep up with the drum classes

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Alright so the second week of drum classes are under way.  I’m still not so sure about them but we seemed to go at a better pace this time around.

The other girl in the class still irritates and annoys me.  Yes, you sit like that when you play the Piano.  I did too.  Why are you having such a hard time sitting at an electronic drum kit?! ARRGH!  Every bloody time!  I hope there isn’t going to be 8 weeks of this questioning why she feels so uncomfortable.

Anyways, I had a great and easy time with the 4 count standard rock beat.  But when we start adding extra stuff in-between beats, I’m having a bit more trouble.  I’m thinking because the instructor isn’t being smart enough to count at a pace that would make sense, but also is not consistant.

If we have “And”‘s between beats two, three, and four, personally I think we should have an “And” between beat one and two, even if there’s nothing to do there.  Because it just sounds WEIRD to count “One, Two and, Three and, Four and. One Two Three Four”  There’s no easy way to keep a proper understanding of the tempo.  Although when I listen, it sounds like I may be the only one who’s getting confused by this method of counting.  Maybe I’ll mention it next week.

I also found out I was the only one playing with #2 sticks, which are super heavy.  I was wondering why I seemed to be inadvertently hitting my drums harder than everyone else!  Instructor guy said he’s buy all of us drum sticks, I wonder if he was going to take orders, because I’d be hankering for some #5′s and #7′s myself! (The larger the number, the thinner the stick.  #5 is about average, and came with the rockband videogame drum kits. #2 are thicker, and #7 are thinner, about sharpie marker thickness, even maybe a little thinner.)

But class was going better at least, I was having some more fun & we got into it a bit more.  This might not be a total waste after all.

Blech. I'm sick.

But my medical/dental coverage starts tomorrow.

Apparently my coverage extends to chiropractors, massage therapy, naturopaths, acupuncture among others! Whee!

I wonder if they'll get mad if I use all of the above?

Two Shows. Seven Bands. Six pairs of Ear plugs.
