I wish people were on time more often

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

The past weekend was quite honestly very fun. I had a great time meeting new people, hanging out with some people I already met previously and generally spending time doing something I don’t normally do.  I ended up in Burlington for Saturday & Sunday, with pit-stops in Hamilton for a fetish/dungeon themed photo shoot (I was supposed to be like a second photographer & model, ended up being second photographer & assistant director) and Sunday ended up in Oakville for some body suspensions.

I think my main complaint was that I was told I’d get picked up around 11am on Saturday, but didn’t actually get around to it until maybe 1pm?  Two hours isn’t a HUGE heck of a difference, but I was bored out of my skull considering I was waiting around when I could have at least gone out for lunch and done something, or something.

I hate waiting.  I don’t know if it’s the instant society that we live in, or if my constant punctualness is just no longer the norm.  I have to always clarify when people say “Come by around 8!” I’ll show up at 8 and no one else starts coming for another hour.  To the point where it’s become “Come by at 8! Angela, don’t bother showing up until 9!”

Meh, it happens I suppose!

I'm home!

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Actually I've been home for a while now. Cabs cost way too much. Caffeine induced hangovers suck too much to attempt public transportation. Heavy non-padded messenger bags & idealistic ankle weights did not the situation help. The past weekend was too much fun. I hope it happens again, and this (next) time I may drive myself just because it's easier.

Any Sudbury IAMers want to hang out around Thanksgiving?

Friday, September 26th, 2008

My mom's made the brilliant idea of “Angela, you should drive me to Sudbury for Thanksgiving so I can visit with your cousins who live there” Thus… apparently I'll be stuck in Sudbury for Thanksgiving.

Someone take me on a pub-crawl so I can forget how thankful I should be about having a family! :D

Reschedule reschedule

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Arrgh.

On Monday I had set up an interview with a company in the area I live in.  Thankfully this means I don’t have to estimate really the transportation time, as it’s only at maximum a ten minute drive from my house.  The interview (second interview actually) was set for 1:30pm today.

At 10am I received a phone call (that I didn’t answer because my phone wasn’t loud enough for me to hear) asking if I could come in for 1pm instead of 1:30pm, as the interviewer’s afternoon had suddenly become busy.  I agreed.

At 12:35pm I received ANOTHER phone call from the same company (different person) asking if I could reschedule my interview (AGAIN) to 5pm today because whoever was supposed to interview me, is away from the office (they should have been back by now) and due to an emergency won’t be able to make it back until the end of the day.

While I understand that emergencies happen, and I’m sure they let me know as soon as they found out, I can’t help but still feel irritated by it.  Mostly because it was my plan to not eat lunch until after the interview, and I’m not waiting until after 5pm to eat lunch.

In other employment news, I also heard back from Elections Canada.  I had received a phone call asking if I was interested in working on election day (which I was… otherwise I wouldn’t have signed up) and today I was called to sign up for a training day.  So next Tuesday at 1:30pm I will be getting trained on how to take people’s names and ID’s.  Or something like that.  And on October 14th I hope to see all Canadians out at the polling stations!

ARRGH!

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Irritated is what I am. My interview today got bumped from 1:30pm to 1:00pm. And then got bumped from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. While I'm fully understanding “something major” obviously happened that must be taken care of immediately… ARRGH! Now that I'm all clean and dressed I'm supposed to STAY this way for another 4 hours? Bah!
