Second verse, same as the first
Second job interview today. Not so much interview as it was just a general get-to-know the company and see if I would fit in as well as I hope I would.
I got to meet someone who would probably end up being my supervisor or manager, or at least someone I could turn to if I needed help, great guy, lots of fun. Very friendly and supportive and was able to show me lots of things that I would be doing, all of which I am more than capable of through what I learned in school or my previous experience. The best was the fact they are currently implementing a system that I had previously worked with, so I actually knew more about this one computer system than he did, and ever so slightly demonstrated that fact.
I think it went well and I am waiting to hear back. I had to rush to get into this interview though because they wanted everyone in this week so they could decide this coming weekend.
Getting there was a nightmare. Not the drive or anything, that I was perfectly fine with. But my HR at my current company… idiots. Seriously.
I basically found out Tuesday night that they wanted me in Wednesday morning. Unfortunately this company I am interviewing with is sort of like that. They kind of pick times for you without really consulting you. So I replied saying I couldn’t, and it would be better if I could give notice for next week. Not a go because they wanted everything done this weekend. The best we could compromise on was me leaving work an hour early today.
So Wednesday afternoon, after I finalized the plans to go Thursday evening, I e-mail HR and my immediate supervisor saying I needed to leave at 3pm for an appointment (Right, I’m not going to tell them I’m going to any job interviews thats for damn sure) and HR replies to me going “Oh but you know we’re short-staffed and you are training a new person who needs to shadow you and it would really help out the company if you could do it after hours.”
Of course, I knew nothing about this until after I had made plans. Because why would you tell someone they’re training someone else less than 3 hours before the end of the shift the night before?
Anyways, I want to write about the exchange of e-mails… but that deserves it’s own post.
Stay tuned!
