Ashtanga yoga
Today was my first Ashtanga yoga class. I went to the 6pm class since I always go to the 6pm classes. And it said level one, and generally one means well not too difficult.
I find out that level one is for advanced students, and the prep class is for beginners.
But it was also the first week that Ashtanga yoga was being offered on Tuesday nights. I walked into a minefield of newbies and people who knew what they were getting themselves into. The room was set different, the tone, the mood, everything was different.
The instructor realized that half his class didn’t know what they walked into, and adjusted accordingly. It was damn interesting. Not as calm and spiritual, not nearly as heated, but I sweated much the same. Even moreso if I’m not mistaken.
I was working, and working really hard at what was going on but I didn’t understand a whole lot of it. I’m looking forward to the prep classes now though!
Another day into the 30 day challenge.
I wonder what people do when or if they don’t like these classes at night. I’m beginning to theorize that the school is frequented by a lot of people with no jobs and can go to yoga at all hours of the day.
