I wish it were something better.
At work we’re doing a spring food drive to kick start the whole idea of having a social committee in a very anti-social enviornment. After hearing that the warehouse workers are extremely competitive when it was suggested we should go on company outings (on our own time of course) and how they would “kick our asses” at any sport we played, I suggested we make a competition of the food drive.
Office vs. Warehouse
See who can collect the most food. Just for fun the prizes for the top team is a pizza lunch whilst the second place team (otherwise to the rest of the world known as the LOSERS but we are trying to abstain from negative wording such as that) would receive morning coffee and donuts.
Anyways, I realized that not anyone is really going to care that much. We’re raising food for a not very well known organization. Sure it’s local to the company but everyone knows the Daily Bread Food Bank. You say you’re raising food for them and they have entire kits and stuff to help you organize your drive. Now I’m sort of stuck doing it all myself, and I’m ripping off everything from the Daily Bread site.
So I designed a poster today reminding people of the food drive, and what are some necessary items they are always looking for. Then the reminder of the dates it is running, who we are supporting and the fact that there’s prizes for this mini-competition.
And our goal. Of 200lbs of food. Which I think now is not ever going to happen. Really, I don’t.
We’re supposed to be in charge of finding and decorating the collection boxes as well. Let’s see how far we get with that.
AND I’m supposed to be the company events photographer. So I guess I’ll be taking pictures of all the goings ons. I wonder if the office doesn’t win the pizza lunch, if I can grab pizza from the warehouse under the guise of the fact that I’m there taking pictures.
Oh, and I’ve also been on the page layout and design for the company newsletter as well as random other things. I don’t know why, but sure. I can surf the internet again at least.
