Chisai Jackson & Tim Tibbitts @ The Lost Lounge
(and Matt York, but I didn’t get to see him… which sucks)
Anyways, they all did a show at the Lost Lounge in Mississauga two weekends ago, and it was bloody well fantastic. The Lost Lounge used to be called Sound Lounge when it was just a big room filled with tables, couches and an open area that was called a stage. But when we walked in, it was massive. They re-did the whole place which included a full stage that was a good 4 feet off the ground, lighting, sound equipment hanging from the ceilings… impressive.
Chisai started the set, and I know most of his songs easily enough to recognize them. I taped the show too so I could listen to it later and give him a copy of it as well. Took a bunch of pictures, most of them are a bit darker than I imagined since I’m trying to lessen the flash on my camera by covering it with tape. IT works to an extent but there needs more photoshop involved now. But I really liked everything I heard and it was a good night.
Tim Tibbitts I’d never heard before. He was second that night, and was a part of “The Four Voices” tour that Chisai was also a part of. (Matt York was another of the 4some as was Mandipal Jandu… who’s name I’m totally butchering the spelling of)
While my friend Brandon went to talk shop with Chisai, I stayed and listened to Tim. He sings and writes very… I guess sort of predictable love songs. He admitted to writing most of the songs about his wife, and they’re cute, and gushy, and shows how much he loves the women in his life. (There’s also a song he introduced as being written for his mother, and one written about his car… why cars are Female I’ll never know)
But I adored the set, the music, and Brandon somehow scored me a copy of the CD at the end of the night. I’m planning on adding it to my growing pile of my little project I’ve got going.
I have pictures of Chisai, but for some reason I’ve been too busy to put them up. They’ll go up one day, I promise.
