Keep on Truckin’

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

So I went to the Gym on Thursday, did cardio, and abs.

Went to the gym Friday, did cardio, and cable weights, upper body, and abs.

Went to the gym Today, did cardio, then tried the pull-up/dip machine dealie at half my body weight. Kinda depressing.

Skipping the gym tomorrow to help with Elevator Gallery’s APUG Conference setup, and Monday I may or may not go. Personally I want to set up a second fit-test for Monday or Tuesday but I doubt I could schedule one for Monday by now. I want to see my progress.

Tis about it really. I’m not eating super healthy at this point but at least my exercising hasn’t gone away.

Do I normally let homeless people wash my car?

Friday, April 28th, 2006

Okay this was a few days ago but I still remember parts of this dream vividly.

I pulled into a gas station in order to fill up my tank. This one somewhat dirty looking/smelling(?) woman jumps through my back door window Dukes-of-Hazzard like, with what looked like the gas hose and I’m about to freak out because I’m thinking she’s going to pour gas all over the interior of my car. I then find out that it’s actually the vaccum cleaner hose and she’s asking if her and her friends can clean out my car for me.

Somehow, I agree to this and they start cleaning my car.

The next thing I remember is an old(er) lady that’s also a part of this cleaning team asks me for something around 7 dollars, while I had somehow known that the car cleaning was going to cost something around 20. She was also mentioning having exact change for her so they wouldn’t have to be short on others, and to sign her slip saying that she had actually been working. I’m getting confused, and this guy who was the third member of this cleaning team comes back and takes her away to discuss how I was supposed to pay them.

Finally the girl that first jumped into my car comes and explains that the other lady was confused thinking I had to pay them individually and not as a collective, and thought every customer had to sign her page and not just her as a supervisor person. But in the end I gave my money to to that one lady and drove off.

What did people do before IAM?

So if anyone’s realized that IAM has been down for the past day, would probably also know that it’s going to be down for I believe the next two. Now considering today is Friday and I keep thinking it’s already Saturday night (Being unemployed gives a very distinct feeling of every day being Saturday) and I feel like I’ve lived 3 days in the past 18 hours, this is going to feel like forever for downtime.

Not that it’s really a bad thing. I was able to get caught up on some Myspace stuff that I’ve been supposed to handle but have been a bit neglectful on. But I wanted to get into some other stuff that I couldn’t do because I archived a message on IAM that I obviously now cannot access.

Oh, on Thursday I had an interview. Two I guess technically, although I rarely ever consider placement or temp agencies an actual job interview. Mostly because I find it absoloutly silly to have an interview that starts with me doing tests. Apparantly I can type 98 words a minute. Insanity I tells ya. Anyways, so I had the placement place at 10am, and then the real interview at 4pm. I liked the real interview so I’ll find out what happens next week.

Next week I’ll actually be working at Elevator Gallary with the APUG Conference, which has something to do with promoting film as a viable and growing medium for photography, where it seems the popular vote is to go with digital. I like film. I like digital. I’m not a photographer. But it will definately be interesting even if all I do is take people’s money and hand out registeration packages. I think I’m hanging some shows and generally being a gofer too. Whatever, its something to do!

I need to get going on some of these top-secret things I need to get going on! ARRG!

Let me bang my head on this desk just a little longer.

So last night was thrilling and exciting. My plan for leisurely hanging around my friend's house doing nothing was thwarted in the 20 minutes between me calling to confirm and arriving at his doorstep, being greeted by his father generally yelling and screaming (not at me) and informing me I was to take his son out of his house… and so on. We ended up at Grandma's, watched some TV & I dropped him off there, hoping this will blow over soon. If not he's gonna stay at my place next week while my parents are outta town. After that we've got no clue.

Then for the first time in what probably feels like AGES, the gas price was under a dollar a litre. And my mom gave me specific instructions to fill up the tank. Which I did. After waiting in line for what was between 15 and 30 minutes of waiting. Seriously, when you think about it, YOU DON'T SAVE THAT MUCH!

Anyways. Today I got called from two different places, and my bright-ass decided it was a good idea to set up two interviews for tomorrow. I also made a call for a weekend job & hope I get it cuz it so far sounds quick & easy. Well this makes up for the interview I blew off that was in Kitchener/Waterloo for tomorrow I suppose.

I've decided that I'm f***ing bored out of my mind at home, but I have absolutely no desire to look for work. Generally a bad combination, I'll figure out some way to make it work. Mostly it involves winning a 30 million dollar lottery, then becoming a rock-star drummer. Hmm…

Something a little different.

Last Thursday myself, and two of my friends went to FAC Toronto to check out their Systema class. Their normal class starts at around 8pm, so that’s when we were supposed to go and audit the class. Unknowingly, and because we’re such lucky bastards, we walked in an hour late to a 3 hour special seminar. So instead of auditing the class, we jumped right in.

Systema is fun. It’s practical, it’s exciting, and it’s completely improv. There’s no right or wrong, just go with your gut feeling, and what comes naturally. The people are super friendly and overall it was a great experience. We were extremely lucky to have that as our introduction. Next week we’ll be going back for their regular class. I’m not sure about them but I may transfer to the school in Thornhill rather than stay in the Toronto one, just because it’s closer and has a more flexable schedule.

In other news, I’m still going to the gym at least 3 times a week, two of those for yoga. Being that I am currently unemployed, I should be going more but there’s something about sitting at home not doing anything that’s inviting, and a very dangerous cycle to get into. I should change that.

Hopefully Systema is what will help me change for the better.
