I lasted two weeks. So shut up.

Yea I was drunk off my ass tonight. But I went to the gym earlier so that makes up for it right? The crosstrainer elliptical thingie is insane. D*** that Hymilian hike on your level 3 resistance that could still get me going at something like 4 miles an hour. At least this one tells me my end results, which was in my half hour on the d*** thing I went 1.93 miles. Yay me! Anyways. After that, I worked just my upper body which was chest, shoulders, biceps and triceps, then I went to go vote, and to go drink.

Funny shit though cuz B made my drink and his at the same time, then went to dig in the freezer for dinner, and as a joke I started downing his drink as fast as I could. Only to end up SUPER f***ing plastered, totally missing the couch as I attempted to sit on it and litterally could not get up. (I was finishing my own drink as I finished his, both in record time) Then I fell asleep and missed the ENTIRE Leafs vs. Whatever-team-Gretzky-Owns, where I remember enough that CuJo was on the opposing team… and that's about it. I woke up hours later to find out that we lost 4-3 after we scored 3 goals in the first peroid.

I'm surprised though that even though I seriously pushed my muscles on the weights today they're not sore at all. Kickass. Tomorrow's my third day with the trainer, then yoga class where I'm getting more into the whole idea of yoga once I get it out of my head it's not a competition to the person sitting next to me. I just find it unnerving that so far other than the instructor I'm the only one I see in that room twice a week. I think once I can put my hands flat on the ground I'll be happy. I'm SO CLOSE!

Day Two of being trained Personally… and then some.

So I took a break Monday. Back at the gym Tuesday, and I got there with enough time to do a decent 20 minute cardio workout before meeting with my Trainer. This time he switched up a bit on the balance & ab workout at the end of the circut, but it was basically the exact same routine. Faster this time since he didn’t have to show me anything, and we got through all 3 sets I was supposed to do. I still think he’s working my legs more than he really should be, it’s a great beginners workout, but I need to go in on my own time to work just my upper body to get more strength up there since I do loads of working out on my legs.

Wednesday I went in, got in about 20 minutes again, this time on one of the crosstrainer elliptical ones that works the arms as well, and was REALLY baffled by the amount of coordination it demands that I don’t have. I muddled my way through it sweating like CRAZY, then headed into the yoga class. I keep having moments where I feel like I’m going to pass out, I think it’s from all the going up and down and up and down, others tell me it’s because I’m not breathing properly, personally I just don’t like staring at myself in the mirror for that long. But after that I did a quick little dirty circut that was basically just a seated chest-press and a tricep workout, I think 30lbs on the press and 20lbs on the triceps, 15 reps and 3 sets before going home.

Workout #1.

So my trainer’s a pretty cool dude. It was funny, he was so worried I might only be comfortable working out in the “Womens Only” part of the gym. I’m not, and honestly I loathe the idea. You’re at a gym. Work out where there’s stuff to work out with! Tonight is my second session and it promises to be more abs and lower-back (general “core”) workout. Tomorrow night is going to be my own blend of an upper body workout plus yoga. And there we have it!

My circut, 3 sets, 15 reps each

Quads/Glutes (Ball Squats)
Hamstrings (Weight machine, 20lbs)
Chest (Cable Weights, 10lbs each side)
Upper Back (Weight machine, 20lbs)
Shoulders (”Sword Pull”, 1lb dumbell)
Abs/Lower Back (”Planks”, 2 at 15sec = 1 set)

Forget healthy addiction, at least I'm not drinking.

So I had my first session with the trainer on Sunday. It was pretty cool, he's a nice enough guy and we agree on genereally how training should go on. I'm doing a circut that works out my lower body more than I would have wanted, but it's all about balance, and I can always work on my upper body on my own. Today's my second session which apperently is going to be a lot of ab-work. I'm excited. Not, because I already have sore abs! The funniest was that I know most of the stuff he's telling me, so it's not like he needs to work really hard. The second funniest is that I totally challenged him on standing on one leg with the opposite arm up in the air with my eyes closed (both of which throws off your balance) which was funnier still when I mentioned that I unicycle.

Yoga's doing better too. My second class was right after my session with the trainer, and I was definitely more relaxed & stuff, most likely because I didn't care as much that everything I did was exactly proper, and just sort of went with the flow of things. It's still kind of boring because I can't quiet my mind as much as I probably should. But it's cool all the same. Definately a nice way to end a workout!

P.S. Anyone who's looking for pictures that I took at Badur's New Years party, don't bug me about it. It's all Phil's fault they're not online yet. Heh. No really don't bug him, there's a massive backlog of images the poor boy has to swim through, and it's hard to swim with those big orange water-wings!

This gym thing just might work out

So last night being the Jemo show I didn’t get to get a lot of sleep. I ended up going to “bed” at like 5am, and woke up at 7am. I had all intents and purposes of going to the gym, so I went home, ate stuff, did some online stuff in the attempt to get to the 2pm self-defense class. That didn’t happen. But I still got to the gym later, did a 30 minute elliptical workout on a crosstraining program with a level 3 resistance, then did 3 sets of 20 reps on the ab crunch machine thingie with 20lbs on it. That thing HURT. Then stretched out everything I could think of, and went home. Tomorrow’s my first day with my trainer. Kickass.
