Easiest boarder crossing ever.
Me and Phil left his house in Toronto at aproximately 9pm and arrived in Bowling Green Ohio at just before 4am. Phil says I drive like an old chinese lady. I says he doesn’t drive. It was okay, there was no special rush to be in the state until morning anyways so why bother rushing?? He slept bits and pieces of the way from Toronto, I drove over the rumble strips on the sides of the road twice because I accidently drifted over, and I was paranoid about the crossing.
The crossing was super easy. I took off my hat (Phil’s hat actually, I was wearing it sideways like a dork and was told to not do that at the crossing so I just took it off) and turned the radio on mute for the whole time. Conversation as follows:
Patrol guy: Can I have your citizenships?
Me: We’re canadians.
Pg: Can I see your ID’s please?
Me: *hands them over*
Pg: Where are you headed?
Me: Bowling Green, Ohio.
Pg: What will you be doing there?
Me: There’s a unicycle convention.
Pg: A unicycle convention! How long is this going on for?
Me: It started last Tuesday, and will finish this Sunday.
Pg: That’s a lot of unicorns…unicycles. I said unicorns.
*everyone kinda laughs*
Pg: How long are you staying?
Me: We’ll be returning Monday.
Pg: So did you get your passport wet Mr. Barbosa?
Phil: Yes sir, I got thrown into a pool in Mexico a month ago.
Pg: Are you bringing any food into the country?
Me & Phil: No, just a few chocolate bars from duty free.
Pg: Any tobacco or alcohol?
Me: Nope.
Pg: Alright, here you go. Have a good time!
Kickass. Didn’t really get lost either. I only had to back up once on the freeway ramps (thankfully it was possible because there was a curb-type of raised thingie in the middle of them) and other than that just made it down here nice & smooth.
Oh, I’m a dork, in that I have my camera, my battaries, my spare battaries and the battary charger. I forgot my memory card, and my card reader (which are together, likely still plugged into my computer at home) So… I don’t have a camera. Whatever.
I went to bed I think at 4am. And it’s 7:12 and I’m up. This SUCKS.
