So I haven't updated in over a week. Whatever. I don't feel the same about updating here anymore like I used to. My blog is completely open to the public, and not subject to TOS, and I won't have people complain that “This is a Body Modification community! SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR D*** UNICYCLE!”. I feel silly for copy/pasting the same diary entries back and forth, so if you're really missing my updates, just go there instead. But I will keep updating here too, because I know some of you are too lazy to click with the scroll wheel to get another tab, or right-click/”open in new tab”.
Last Thursday I woke up extra early to take my midterm exam at 8am. But I didn't know what room the exam was being held in, and wouldn't be able to check until 8am. Thus I was late. Then I headed to the Toronto Bike Show to help set up the TOque games by unloading trucks and building platforms. Then I met a whole lotta unicyclists that were all very cool, we hung out at Phil's house all night, and after they left, I kept hanging out with Phil and Badur, then they offered to let me stay the night because I was too lazy to get on the street car to go home.
Last Friday I woke up in time to get to my 8am class (I woke up at 7am) but I was too lazy to get out of the couch I slept on to go, so I got up with Phil at around 9am and he walked to the show while I took the streetcar home, showered up, grabbed my uni and went back to the bike show. We all tooled around on the course, I basically just practiced on these teeny tiny little blocks because it was the only thing I could use, there was a LOT of unicyclists in a very confined area. Then Beginners Longjump and Highjump happened which I was entered in. And I judged the beginning of the Expert Longjump which was just insanity. We all went out for Vegan food for dinner, which was the first real meal of the day, at like 11pm. With a party of 17 or so people taking up half the restaurant.
Saturday I got to the show, and found out I was locked out of the trials area which meant no practicing before the Beginners Trials competition. I avoided the “almost-intermediate” lines, and was too frustrated with the flat-ground lines that by the time I cleared all of them, the jumping-onto-stuff lines and jumping-over-stuff lines were uncompleted. But I gave a good showing of myself. Then I sat back and took pictures of the Sport/Intermediate and Expert trials competition. Then to the Groves for Chili, and watching TheDan Dot Com's rap video over and over and over. I avoided going to the Unicycle Movie Double-feature, along with Phil because we were tired as hell.
Sunday morning between 5am and 7am the fire-alarm kept going off. Not fun. I figured that if the building were to burn done, then that's just fine with me, because I was staying in bed. I woke up at 10am realizing that no, the building did not burn down. I got pictures of the Public Demo's, but was not registered in the UMX so I didn't go, hopefully someone got some good video footage so I can watch it. I was asked to be a part of the second Demo while all the Factory Team riders were at UMX but then just sat and watched again. It was funny having little 6-8 year old children ask some of the riders to autograph their Show Programs, then run to their parents to show off the autographs. The show offically closed its doors and I forgot to buy riding shorts I really wanted. Oh well. We started breaking onto the BMX track that we were banned from on our unicycles. I gave it a spin, and because I have very little control in turning and little experience in going up and down hills, I rode up one of the sides, then promptly fell off. It was fun though! We packed everything up, rode to a storage area to put everything back, rode to Bedford Unicycles to unpack stuff that didn't sell, then I took the TTC back home and promptly fell asleep, probably still covered in BMX-tradk dirt.
Oh, I woke up way early in time for my 9am class, but as you can see, I spent the past hour writing up this diary entry for you all.
